Claude Academy in the UAE: All 25 Free Courses and Which One to Take First

What Claude Academy is

Claude Academy is Anthropic's official learning platform for its own products and for AI fluency generally. The official library is academy.claude.com and replaced the older Skilljar course catalogue.

The library has three layers:

1. Courses: 25 structured paths with video lessons, quizzes and, on most, a completion badge.
2. Tutorials: short single-topic explanations, usually 5 to 15 minutes.
3. Use cases: job-shaped tasks, some as short as 10 minutes.

You can read public lessons without signing in. Signing in with a Claude account saves your progress, grades quizzes and issues the badge.

Can you use Claude Academy in the UAE?

Yes. The United Arab Emirates appears on Anthropic's supported countries list for both Claude.ai and commercial API access, so the Academy, the product and the account system all work from here without a VPN.

3 practical learning paths for UAE learners:

• Cost: the learning content is free.
• Plan: some courses teach products that need a paid Claude plan for the hands-on exercises. Claude 101 runs on the free tier. The Cowork course expects access to Cowork, so check the prerequisites on the course page against your own plan before you start.
• Language: the courses are in English. Claude itself works in Arabic, but the Academy lessons are not translated.

Why AI fluency is the UAE skill of 2026

The UAE has made AI capability a national target, and that impacts what employers expect from you.

The National AI Strategy 2031 and the UAE AI Charter both place public AI education at the centre of the plan. AI became a mandatory subject across public schools from the 2025–2026 academic year. The Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence runs One Million Prompters, a free prompt engineering programme aiming to train a million people. Coursera's 2026 report on GCC AI regulation, Navigating GCC AI Regulation, describes the UAE as treating workforce AI capability as a measurable national target linked directly to economic diversification.

Employers have followed. Khaleej Times reported in August 2026 that UAE firms are moving AI skills beyond technical teams entirely. Ergul Hemmingsen, Chief Human Capital Officer at Core42, told the paper that AI fluency has stopped being a nice-to-have or something reserved for technical staff and is becoming a foundational skill for every employee.

The anxiety is real too. Mercer's 2026 Global Talent Trends study, cited in the same report, found 40 per cent of employees fear losing their jobs to AI, up from 28 per cent a year earlier.

The 4D Framework

The 4D Framework emerged from the research collaboration of Rick Dakan of Ringling College of Art and Design and Joseph Feller of Cork University Business School, University College Cork. It defines AI fluency as the ability to work effectively, efficiently, ethically and safely within emerging modalities of human-AI interaction, through four interconnected competencies: Delegation, Description, Discernment and Diligence.

Which course to take first

Depending on what you do for a living, there are a few options.

You run a small business in the UAE. Start with AI Fluency for Small Businesses (9 lessons, 4 hr), which applies the framework to research, customer data and operations. Then Claude 101 for the mechanics.

You work in a UAE government entity. Start with AI Fluency: Framework & Foundations, then AI Capabilities and Limitations. Both are about judgment and evaluation, which is what governance conversations are concerned about.

You teach in the UAE. Higher education: AI Fluency for educators (90 minutes), then Teaching AI Fluency for assessment design. Schools: AI Fluency for pK–12 Educators, built with Teach For America. If you already train colleagues, add the pK–12 Train the Trainer course for its workshop kit.

You are a student at a UAE university. AI Fluency for students, 5 lessons, 3 hours. Read your institution's academic integrity policy first.

You write code. Claude Code 101, then Claude Code in Action. If you are building a product on Claude, Claude Platform 101 first and Building with the Claude API after.

You are a marketer, designer or writer. AI Fluency for Creative Work, 8 lessons, 5 hours. It highlights which parts of your process carry your taste and should not be handed over to AI in most cases.

You are none of the above and want the shortest useful path. Claude 101 for the product, then AI Fluency: Framework & Foundations for the judgment.

Claude Academy compared to the other free options in the UAE

They are not competitors so much as different depths. One Million Prompters teaches you to instruct a model. Claude Academy's fluency track teaches you to decide whether the model should be involved, and how to evaluate its work. Do the Dubai programme for the certificate and the local recognition. Do the Academy for the depth.

What are the completion badges

Claude Academy issues a completion badge on most courses once you finish the lessons and pass the quiz.

It is not a professional certification, but rather a certificate of completion. Alternatively, CPN members (Claude Partner Network) have access to accredited exams and certificate paths you can take.

How to start in the next 30 minutes

1. Go to academy.claude.com and sign in with your Claude account. Create one free if you do not have it.
2. Open Claude 101 and finish the first three lessons.
3. Open a real task from your own work — a supplier email, a client brief, a report you dread — and run it with what those three lessons taught you.
4. Write down what the model got wrong. That list is your discernment training, and it is more useful than the next five lessons.
5. Book the rest as two 45-minute blocks in your calendar. Courses die in the gap between intention and diary.

Limitations worth knowing before you commit

• English only. No Arabic course content at the time of writing.
• Vendor-shaped. These are Anthropic's courses about Anthropic's products. The AI fluency track transfers to any model.
• A badge. Useful evidence of effort. Not a licence, and not accredited by KHDA or any UAE authority.
• Time is the real cost. The full AI fluency track plus Claude 101 is roughly ten hours. Free is not cheap when the currency is evenings.

Is Claude Academy free in the UAE? Yes. All learning content on academy.claude.com is free, with no subscription and no credit card. Some courses teach products that require a paid Claude plan for the hands-on exercises.

Is Claude Academy available in the UAE? Yes. The UAE is listed on Anthropic's supported countries page for both Claude.ai and API access, so no VPN is needed.

Which Claude Academy course should a beginner start with? Claude 101 for the product mechanics, then AI Fluency: Framework & Foundations for the judgment behind them. About six and a half hours combined.

Do I need to know how to code? No. 16 of the 25 courses are non-technical. The API, MCP, subagents and Claude Code courses assume coding; the AI fluency track and Claude 101 do not.

Is Claude Academy better than One Million Prompters? They teach different things. One Million Prompters, run by the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence, focuses on prompt engineering and issues a digital certificate. Claude Academy goes deeper into delegation, evaluation and responsibility, and into Anthropic's own products. Many UAE professionals do both.

Are the courses in Arabic? No. Course content is in English, although Claude itself handles Arabic.
